Edmonton Pet Photographer: Pit Bull Awareness Mini Sessions
Every October I photograph 31 pit bulls and pit bull-type dogs to celebrate Pit Bull Awareness Month and help challenge the stereotypes these incredible dogs face. Too often, these dogs are judged or misunderstood simply because of how they look, carrying stigmas that don’t reflect the loving, loyal, and playful companions they truly are.
Many dogs labeled as “pit bulls” are actually completely different breeds or mixes that simply share a similar look.
Through this project, my goal is to help people see the dogs behind the label, their personalities, their stories, and the joy they bring to the people who love them.
This project is about more than photos. It’s about changing perceptions, celebrating rescue dogs, and helping raise funds for dogs still waiting for their second chance.
These special mini sessions support Pit Bulls for Life, a rescue organization doing incredible work helping dogs find safety, care, and loving homes.
By booking a session, you’re not only creating beautiful portraits of your dog , you’re also helping shine a light on these amazing dogs and supporting the ones still waiting for their forever families.
Breeds Often Mistaken for Pit Bulls
Dogs commonly mistaken for the American Pit Bull Terrier include:
• American Staffordshire Terrier
• Staffordshire Bull Terrier
• American Bully
• Boxer mixes
• Bull Terrier
• American Bulldog
• Cane Corso mixes
• Mastiff mixes
• Labrador Retriever mixes
• Mixed breed rescue dogs
Pit bulls: 60% muscle, 40% wiggle, 100% heart.
Proof that sometimes the most misunderstood dogs are the biggest sweethearts.
Session Details
• Up to 30 Minute Studio Session
• 3 Professionally Edited Digital Images Included
• $100 Session Fee
• 50% of proceeds donated to Pit Bulls for Life
Additional pets can be added for $100 per pet and include 3 additional images.
Sessions will take place in my Stony Plain pet studio and will run until all 31 spots are filled.
Bonus Images for DNA Results
If you’ve had a DNA test done for your dog, I would love to include the results in the storytelling of this project.
Clients who share their dog's DNA results will receive 2 additional digital images.
Many dogs labeled as “pit bulls” are actually a mix of several breeds, and this project helps highlight just how diverse and wonderful these dogs truly are.
Why Pit Bulls for Life?
Pit Bulls for Life does incredible work helping dogs in need, and rescue has always been close to my heart.
I’ve personally adopted two dogs from Pit Bulls for Life, and they’ve completely changed my life.
Supporting rescue animals through photography is one of the most meaningful parts of what I do, and this project felt like the perfect way to combine storytelling with giving back.
By participating in this project, you’re helping support the dogs that are still waiting for their safe place and forever families.
What These Sessions Are Like
These sessions are relaxed, fun, and completely pet-focused.
My studio is designed to make pets feel comfortable while creating beautiful portraits that showcase their personality.
Whether your dog is goofy, cuddly, shy, or full of energy, we’ll capture images that truly feel like them.
And yes… there will be lots of treats and squeaky toys involved.
Who Can Book?
These sessions are open to:
• Pit bulls
• Pit bull-type dogs
• Bully mixes
• Rescue dogs
• Dogs adopted from Pit Bulls for Life
• Dogs who have been labeled as “pit bulls”
The goal of this project is to celebrate these amazing dogs and show the world who they really are.
Limited to 31 Dogs
Only 31 spots are available so that I can feature one dog every day during October for Pit Bull Awareness Month.
Once the 31 sessions are filled, the project will close for the year.
