Cozy colours, golden light, and the people you love most.

Fall Photography in Edmonton, Stony Plain & Spruce Grove

Fall in Alberta never lasts quite long enough, which makes it one of my favourite seasons to photograph.

Whether you're planning updated family photos, celebrating a new season with your partner, bringing your dog along for the adventure, or simply want beautiful photos surrounded by Alberta's changing leaves, fall sessions are all about connection, movement, and soaking up those warm autumn colours while they're here.

I offer fall photography sessions throughout Stony Plain, Spruce Grove, Edmonton and the surrounding area, with both full-length sessions and limited fall mini sessions available throughout September and October.

Looking for More Than a Mini?

Make fall photos your own.

If you'd like more time, more variety or a session that's completely customized around your family, pets or relationship, you can book one of my regular photography sessions instead.

Full sessions give us more freedom to explore the location, change up groupings, let kids play, give dogs time to settle in, and capture all the little in-between moments that make your gallery feel like you.

Fall Family Photography

Photos that actually feel like your family.

Your kids don't have to stand perfectly still.

Your dog doesn't need to look at the camera the entire time.

And nobody needs to spend the whole session saying, “Cheese!”

My family sessions are relaxed and focused on genuine connection. We'll still capture those beautiful everyone-looking-at-the-camera portraits, but we'll also create images of the laughs, cuddles, movement and little moments that make this season of your life yours.

Fall gives us an incredible backdrop of warm grasses, golden leaves and rich seasonal colour without taking the attention away from the people in the photographs.

Fall Photos With Your Dog

Because they're family too.

Dogs are always welcome at my outdoor fall sessions.

I've photographed everything from energetic puppies to seniors, reactive dogs and pups who would much rather sniff every leaf than sit perfectly for a photograph.

That's completely okay.

Sessions are kept relaxed and pet-led, with plenty of time for breaks, treats, movement and letting your dog settle into the environment.

And yes,  they can absolutely be included in your family photos too.

Couples & Fall Photography

Fall isn't only for family photos.

Grab your partner, put on your favourite cozy layers and spend an evening wandering through the trees together.

Couples sessions can be romantic, playful, adventurous or somewhere in between. I'll guide you when you need it, but you won't spend the entire session awkwardly posing for the camera.

Think walking through tall grass, cuddling beneath changing leaves, laughing together and creating photographs that actually feel like the two of you.

Favourite Fall Photography Locations

I photograph fall sessions throughout Edmonton, Stony Plain, Spruce Grove and the surrounding area and can help you choose a location based on the look you love, where you're travelling from and who will be joining you.

Some of my favourite locations for fall photography include:

Riverlot 56

Beautiful trails, tall grasses, trees and plenty of seasonal colour. A gorgeous option for families, couples and pet-friendly fall sessions.

Constable Chelsea Robinson Park

A great option close to Stony Plain and Spruce Grove with trails, open areas, tall grasses and beautiful autumn scenery.

Wagner Natural Area

A mix of wooded trails, grasses and natural Alberta scenery that creates a beautiful, relaxed backdrop for fall photos.

Chickakoo Lake Recreation Area

Ideal for a slightly more adventurous outdoor session, with forested trails, open areas and plenty of natural variety.

Lois Hole Centennial Provincial Park

Open skies, natural grasses and beautiful evening light for a softer, more natural fall look.

MacTaggart Sanctuary

A beautiful Edmonton location with wooded trails, natural greenery and plenty of texture. As the season changes, the trails and trees create a rich, cozy backdrop that works beautifully for families, couples and maternity photos.

Strathcona Science Provincial Park

One of my favourite Edmonton-area locations for variety, with open fields, trails, mature trees and river valley scenery. It's a great choice if you want a gallery with several different looks without travelling between locations.

Terwillegar Park

A beautiful river valley location with winding trails, open spaces, trees and plenty of room to explore. It's especially great for relaxed family sessions and photos with dogs where we can incorporate lots of movement and candid moments.

Not sure which fall location is best?

That's okay! Tell me who you're bringing, where you're travelling from and the look you're hoping for, and I'll help you choose a location that fits your session.

FAQ

What should we wear for fall photos?

Warm, earthy tones photograph beautifully against Alberta’s fall colours. Think cream, camel, rust, brown, olive green, mustard, burgundy, denim and soft neutrals.

Instead of matching everyone exactly, choose colours and textures that complement each other. Layers like sweaters, knit cardigans, jackets and boots are also perfect for adding texture and keeping everyone comfortable.

What happens if the weather doesn’t cooperate?

Alberta fall weather can be unpredictable! I’ll keep an eye on the forecast as your session approaches, and if we’re dealing with heavy rain or unsafe weather, we’ll work together to reschedule.

Clouds, cooler temperatures and a little wind don’t necessarily mean we need to cancel. Some of my favourite fall galleries have been created on days that didn’t look “perfect” on the forecast.

How do I book a fall photography session?

Choose the session, date and location that work best for you and submit your booking request. Once your session is accepted, you’ll receive your confirmation, questionnaire, contract and invoice.

Your date and time are officially secured once your contract is signed and the 50% non-refundable deposit is paid.

Can I bring my dog to our fall photos?

Absolutely! Many of my outdoor fall photography locations are pet-friendly, and your dog is more than welcome to join your family, couples or pet photography session.

Your dog doesn’t need to be perfectly trained or sit still for the entire session. I keep things relaxed and pet-led, with time for treats, movement, sniff breaks and plenty of personality.

Fall Moves Fast.

Your photos shouldn't have to wait until next year.

There are only a few short weeks every year when Alberta gives us those incredible golden leaves, warm grasses and colourful evenings.

Whether this year has brought new babies, new puppies, growing kids, anniversaries, engagements or simply another chapter worth remembering, this is your excuse to get everyone together and document it.

Serving Stony Plain, Spruce Grove, Edmonton, Parkland County and surrounding Alberta communities.
